Perhaps most associated with the “M” in the time-honoured GSM blends of the Southern Rhone, Mourvedre has recently begun to emerge from the shadow cast by the better known “G” and “S”. While Mourvedre obviously plays well with others, it truly shines when allowed to strut its stuff. A feral shell of game meat, earth, and leather encloses a remarkably elegant core of dried cranberry and blueberry; all built upon a silky, medium-bodied foundation. Repeated sniffs and whiffs will be like perusing your spice cabinet with subtle notes of toasted fennel, coriander, pepper, and nutmeg. Enjoy!
